Welcome to Mrs. Hall's English Blog!

Hello freshman and sophomore English students.

Welcome to our English 9 and 10 blog. I have created this blog as a way for our class to use technology and forge new connections with our reading and writing. For now, we will use this blog for both grades, and we will use this site in several ways.

Often, I will post a prompt as a new blog entry and ask that you write an answer in the comments section. Doing this will allow us to better share ideas and opinions about what we are doing in class. Just remember, I still expect you to follow all the typical rules of composition and writing. This is no place for text speak and abbreviations or sloppy writing.

Another way we will use this site is as a central resource for the class. You will be able to find almost everything you may need for the class. I will add links to a calendar of due dates and ongoing vocabulary lists. As I learn more about blogging, I will add more content.

Finally, you need to remember that what we say and do here is available for any of us to read - teachers, classmates, parents, members of the community, even others in the world. It is also important to note that all comments/work you add to this page must adhere to the Cossatot River Schools' acceptable use policy for computer use.

Keep this site bookmarked and refer to it regularly. Again, good luck this year.

Hello! I am Dana Hall, and I am pleased to be a member of the staff at Cossatot River High School. I will be a long-term substitute in 9th and 10th grade English. My position will become permanent when I receive a provisional license from Arkansas. I have a Bachelor's of Science in English with a minor in History from Texas A & M- Texarkana. I am currently working toward a Master's of Art in Teaching at Southern Arkansas University. My previous experience includes substitute teacher at Horatio Elementary and Lockesburg High, writing tutor at A & M Texarkana, and Young Writer's Workshop mentor.

I currently live in Gillham, AR, with my husband of five years. Together, we have 7 children, 17 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson. I have two cats and none horses. I love to ride every chance I get, which is not often enough.

I look forward to meeting and getting to know each of you, my students and your families. I hope to see you all at Back to School night, August 14, 2015. Classes begin Monday, August 17, 2015. I am looking forward to a rewarding year. As we work together to instill a sense of confidence, self-esteem, responsibility, and a love for literature, it is my hope that each of you will strive to reach your highest potential. I hope you are excited as I am!
